We believe in the power of touch, in human connection, and in the energy exchange between bodies through massage therapy.

We treat clients with a combination of deep tissue massage, sports massage, and Thai massage. We incorporate a variety of tools as needed. We also regularly work with pregnant and postpartum individuals for comfort, relaxation, and healing.

UPDATE (April 2023): I am pleased to welcome Kelly Harvey to the Flow Birth & Bodywork team! She and I have extremely similar styles and abilities (we were/are regular “trade partners” prior to her coming on board), and she is now available for booking.

MASSAGE APPROACH

  • In deep tissue sessions, I aim to address pain, by using a range of techniques (e.g. compressions, trigger point therapy, fascial release, cupping, etc.). It may not be appropriate for someone looking for a lighter, gentler massage. That said, deep pressure does not equal pain, and pain does not equal progress. You will be asked to breathe deeply, communicate, and provide feedback during these sessions.

  • In sports massage, the primary focus is to prepare for or aid in recovery from an event or intense exercise. Ongoing sports massage is used as a tool for maintenance and self-care for those training regularly, through which we can address issues as they arise, lessening the chances for injury and/or overuse issues.

  • When working with birthing people, I aim to encourage relaxation through broad compression of achy muscles (avoiding specific pressure points) and careful mobilization (hello, relaxin!). Your body is constantly changing and adjusting to make room for a growing baby, and that can take a toll on your muscles, movement patterns, and overall posture.

    For those in the immediate postpartum period, the goal is relaxation for gentle healing. Gentle abdominal massage and scar mobilization may be included, as desired, during any postpartum appointment.

    These sessions are available on the mat (for more wiggle room and better angles) or on the table.

  • As a Thai American, this modality holds a special place in my heart. I’ve been fortunate to receive traditional Thai massage throughout my life from extended family and friends. I have learned the traditional, general sequence as well as ways to experiment and “off-road” using Thai principles and positioning.

    Thai massage often does not fixate on any particular issues or areas of the body. These are full body sessions, comprised of stretching, mobilization, and deep compressions using the hands, elbows, knees, and feet. For me, as the therapist, the session feels quite meditative — almost akin to a dance. For the client, the end result is similar to having completed a yoga class — refreshed, relaxed, and more mobile.

And though I always wanted to get tissue work (massage, but not the gentle kind, the kind that consists of thumbs that find those adhesions and make muscles right), I was not motivated until it was made convenient – an added charge to my automatic gym membership. Massage Packages

All massage starts with a single session. This allows us to make sure we are a good fit for one another professionally & energetically. From there, we offer Monthly & Quarterly Massage Memberships only. Memberships are automatically charged on the 1st and renewed month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter, depending on the type. There are different tiers for the membership packages. See below for all currently available options.

Monthly Massage Memberships

Expanded monthly membership options are as follows. Monthly memberships offer sessions at 15% off of the full price.

  • Monthly Standard: $142.50 for (1) 90 min every month

  • Monthly Basic: $93.50 for (1) 60 min every month

FINE PRINT: Three-month minimum commitment, then month-to-month afterward. Unused minutes will roll over to the next month, but memberships will be terminated after accruing three months' worth of unused minutes.

Quarterly Massage Memberships

Quarterly memberships allow for extra wiggle room for those who want a regular cadence of bodywork but can't make it work every month. Quarterly memberships offer sessions at 10% off of the full price.

  • Quarterly Standard: $148.50 for (1) 90 min every three months

  • Quarterly Basic: $99 for (1) 60 min every three months

FINE PRINT: Six-month minimum commitment, then quarter to quarter afterward. Minutes DO NOT roll over into the next quarter. Use 'em or lose 'em.
